What am I Carrying?

The Packing List

I have a standard, minimal, touring list that I think comprises the bare essentials to touring. Of course it’s open to interpretation, and I also bring some other things along. By the way, I do not have any sponsorships and will typically not call out brands of most items. But if you want to know more about any of the gear, just let me know!

For some this trip, here’s what I have:

 

 

For the bike

·      2 spare inner tubes

·      A couple rags (for the chain)

·      Bike (kind of obvious)

·      Bike lights for front and back

·      Bike lock

·      Chain lube (it will be necessary to lube the chain either once a day or once every 2 days)

·      Cycling shirts

·      Extra bungee cords

·      Helmet

·      Knife, lighter, various tools

·      Multi-tool (Allen wrenches + screw driver, spoke tool)

·      Odometer/speedometer/GPS

·      Panniers (I use 2)

·      Riding shorts (with padding)

·      Some extra cable ties (also for securing things just in case)

·      Strong cord/rope (in case you need to tie something down)

·      Tire levers

·      Tire pump

·      Tire repair kit

·      Water Bottle

 

For Myself

·      2 changes of clothes (for on and off the bike)

·      5L capacity for drinking water

·      Baby powder (to deal with inevitable chafing)

·      Bike gloves

·      Bug spray

·      Decoy wallet (someone suggested this - I could need to get rid of a wallet?)

·      Dr. Brauners

·      First aid kit (bandages, disinfectant, tylenol, etc)

·      Phone

·      Rain Jacket

·      Regular shoes

·      Sunglasses

·      Sunscreen

·      Water filter (not sure about tap water or needing to refill along the way

For camping

·      Camping hammock

·      Head lamp

·      Pillow

·      Sleeping bag

·      Sleeping pad

·      Toilet paper

·      Travel towel

·      Wash kit (toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, razor...)

 

As a trial run, I packed it all up and took it on a cold winter ride around Fort Collins.
