Berlin to Odessa Day 8: Dębica

A brief word about my bike, the Long-Haul Trucker. It was a graduation gift from my fantastic parents who offered me a release and a way to spend extended periods of time away from my actual professional activities. After completing an engineering degree, this was probably the best, and ultimately most productive gift I could have received. To date I've probably done close to 6,000 miles in about 2 years and will probably do way more than that in the years to come. The frame shows no signs of wear, some of the parts may have changed (chains, cassettes, tires, brake cables, pedals, fork...) but the bike's core remains the same and is still reliably transporting me across the world with distances short and long.

Straight-up biking day today. We left Krakow after dillydallying for a little bit with our wonderful host, Margaret. Unfortunately our couchsurfer had to cancel at the last minute, but was so kind that she found us an alternate accomodation in a rented apartment for one night. We do miss the cultural intimacy by staying here, as well as the food perks. The owner of the room told us about a Spanish restaurant nearby. His recommendation included the restaurant's 3 best features (aside from the fact that it is owned by his friends): it
1) is 'sort of maybe' cheap,
2) has food (no accompanying adjective),
3) is located behind a gas station that is normally closed
We decided to take a look just because he said he had called ahead to tell them we were coming, even though we said we might just go to the grocery store and cook something. It was probably the creepiest looking restaurant in the shadiest part of town we could have imagined, and really located in a sort of alley behind an abandonned looking gas station. Despite having just biked 140 kilometers, we couldn't bring ourselves to eat there.

Tomorrow we will be heading to Rzeszow (good luck with the pronunciation on this one).

P.S. I am fully aware that these Garmin maps are not posting correctly. I'm trying to see what I can do to fix them. Hopefully at some point they will all come back, so I keep posting them.
